About POPBANGCOLOUR

Ian Cook, aka POPBANGCOLOUR, is a contemporary British artist internationally renowned for his unique approach to painting — using radio-controlled cars, car tyres, and toy car wheels instead of traditional brushes.

Hence the hashtag: #PaintWithCars

After graduating with a First-Class Honours degree in Fine Art Painting, Ian developed a distinctive style that he describes as “a friendly explosion of colour.”

His creative journey began for three key reasons:

1. Ian has always been a car and motorsport enthusiast.

2. He trained and always aspired to be an artist.

3. And, for Christmas in 2006, he was given a radio-controlled car and told: “Don’t take it down the studio and don’t get paint on it!”

Of course — he did both.
And from that moment… POPBANGCOLOUR was born.

The Journey So Far

Since 2007, Ian has merged his passion for cars and creativity to produce an extraordinary body of work.
His achievements include:

• Creating a giant portrait of Lewis Hamilton the size of a three-storey building.

• Breaking a Guinness World Record.

• Featuring artwork on BBC’s Top Gear.
